We are pleased to announce that the Muslimah Sports Association has been awarded the Redbridge Beacon Award at the Ilford & Redbridge Business Awards 2025.
The awards, held at The Coliseum Suite in Ilford, celebrated and honoured the work of businesses across Ilford, Gants Hill, Seven Kings, Barkingside, South Woodford, Wanstead and Woodford.
MSA won the Redbridge Beacon Award becoming the ‘shining stars of Redbridge’ and was presented by Councillor Saima Ahmed.

“We are proud that this award highlights the collective effort and values that shape our inclusive approach to sport. Looking ahead, MSA remains committed to being a beacon for inclusion, opportunity and positive change across the sporting community. Our aim now is to elevate and expand our presence and show that there is a need for continuous changes in access to sport. This can only be done by knowing your audience. We understand our participants and work to their needs in every way possible.” – Sifaya Ikbal, MSA Project Leader
The Beacon Award shows how far MSA have come in the journey to providing access to sport for women in the UK. From football to basketball, swimming to yoga, we are proud to be able to accommodate women and girls of all ages. MSA now enters its twelfth year in operation and will be building upon our successful activities and groups to new areas upholding the belief: the choice to participate in sport is a right, not a privilege.
Just in the last two years, we have directly delivered sports and activities to over 1,500 participants reaching 32 London boroughs. Our Positive Minds group has helped women understand the causes and remedies for mental health whilst fostering positive environments to voice their opinions which can be transported into sports. Furthermore, being awarded The Kings Award for Voluntary Service recognised our efforts to the community at the highest level possible.
We continue to work with and for women from all walks of life to ensure they have access to sport and look to the future to help more women realise and achieve their full potential.
